I didn't embark on my artistic adventures until 2004, when I was able to retire early from my surgical nursing career. I've always drawn, but love color, so a natural progression was with colored pencil. I'm a self taught artist, although I've taken many classes and workshops to improve my abilities. You usually take away at least one thing from a teacher, but even more often it's tips and techniques from fellow artists. At this point, I've tried almost every medium and am most happy with oil paint, although I will always draw. I've also found my main interest to be portrait and figure work.

I admire loose technique and even unfinished looking pieces, but I am so detail oriented, it's tough for me. So I'm trying. As they say, I'm a work in progress! And what fun it is!
